What We Do

Our Programmes

Four flagship programmes, each a peer of the others, each with its own output, budget and measurable impact, all feeding one ecosystem.

Research and knowledge

Rinjani Society

A learned society, research institution and think tank for the Rinjani-Lombok UNESCO Global Geopark and Biosphere Reserve, and for internationally designated areas worldwide.

Its work is organised in three pillars (Natural Heritage, Human Heritage and Economic Prosperity) and carried out by nine centres, each hosted by a university or NGO in Nusa Tenggara Barat or abroad. It publishes an Annual Report, the State of the Rinjani Landscape and the Rinjani Review, alongside eight peer-reviewed journals.

Enterprise

Rinjani Selects

An accelerator for the small businesses and start-ups of the Geopark and Biosphere Reserve: the producers, guides, hosts and makers whose work carries the landscape's story to visitors and markets.

Rinjani Selects also recognises the best of them: an annual guide to accommodation, food, shops, tour operators and destinations that meet standards for geoheritage, stewardship, quality, community benefit and visitor experience. [VERIFY: guide launch date]

Media and culture

Amorf Creative Hub

The umbrella for media and the creative industries. Amorf publishes InfoRinjani Magazine, a quarterly open to contributions from the community, and runs the Rinjani International Film Festival, workshops, a gallery and museum displays.

Investment

Rinjani Sustainable Investment Council (RSIC)

The platform for sustainable investment in Rinjani-Lombok: an expo, a summit, a business forum and investment promotion that connect investors with opportunities that meet the standards of both UNESCO designations.
